About Design & Code

Why we work the way we do.

Design & Code is a brand of Desicode Infosolutions LLP. The studio started before the company did, with three engineering students who preferred building real things to waiting for the curriculum to catch up.

College, before there was a company

Ship first. Learn in public.

It started the way a lot of real companies do — three engineering students, still in their first year, more interested in what they could build and ship than in waiting for a curriculum to get to it. Freelance projects, hackathons, work for nonprofits who needed a website and couldn't afford an agency. None of it was Design & Code yet. All of it became the reason Design & Code could exist.

May 2019

The studio gets a name.

Saurabh Soparkar, Prem Raval, and Suraj Pawar formalized what they'd already been doing into Desicode Infosolutions LLP. Design & Code became the studio for design and engineering work specifically — the thing this website is actually about.

Scaling up

Both directions at once.

Growth here didn't mean only “more clients.” It meant going deeper into the same relationships — a first small project becoming the platform an operation runs on — at the same time as reaching new industries: education, financial services, e-commerce, healthcare, and social impact.

Today

Still close to the work.

The studio is still run by people who were writing the code themselves a few years ago, not a layer of account managers between you and the work. The scale has changed. That proximity has not.

The problem we built around

Stay in the gap where projects usually fall apart.

Most digital projects don't fall apart at the idea stage. They fall apart in the gap between a design file and a working, tested, actually-maintained product — right around when a vendor hands over a static file and disappears, or whoever's left has to re-learn your business from zero. That gap is exactly where we stay.

Understand the business. Design the structure and interface. Build and test the real thing. Stay after launch. The detail is on our process page.

A few projects need search visibility, hosting, or AR/VR. We bring in a named sister brand only when the project calls for it. See the ecosystem

Social impact

Work that mattered before it had a budget.

Making money was never the only point of this. We look after websites, servers, IT infrastructure, and applications for social organizations in India and beyond, often for the same reason we started freelancing in college: because the work mattered and somebody had to build it properly. That has included Creating Abilities, a disability-inclusion nonprofit, and Meditate-A-Thon, a meditation app built for an NGO wellness initiative.

Community involvement

Distinct from client work.

A few of us are personally involved with Enroot Mumbai, a volunteer community building tech for social good, and have worked on community projects like Global Parli, a rural-development initiative. Nobody paid us for this — it's the kind of thing we'd be doing anyway.

Where we're based: Mumbai — working with people there, in the US, and pretty much anywhere in between if the project's a good fit.

Who's behind it

The people still close to the work.

The three who started it are still here. The team's grown since — and a few of us also do serious work outside this studio, which we think is worth mentioning rather than hiding.
